Default Ira from Staten Island Thinks NFL Strike Will Injure 9/11 Healing

The ultimate tool Ira from Staten Island was on with Sid Rosenberg on March 11, 2011 at around 12:15 pm, caught the end of Ira crying as he asked Sid if the NFL players would be rusty if they settled the strike in the summer.

It was at the end of the call that Ira pulled out the ultimate in tool fan fantasy, I think when Dave Duerson tragically died, for one second Joe Benigno and Ira realized that real people play in the NFL, not toy dolls, anyway here is one of the more idiotic exchanges you will find in sports radio:

Ira (from Staten Island), "You know Sid one of the real tragedies that will occur if the NFL has a strike and we miss part of the season, will be the fact that the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks is occurring this year and we will be deprived of the Jets vs. Giants on Sunday night, we would lose that chance of healing and revery."

Sid then goes onto to say he was there, for a second I thought we were going to get a Francesa injecting himself into the tragedy, close, Sid was there that morning, on the air with Don Imus (who gives a whip Sid) and yes Ira, sports can be a healing tool in a tragedy like 9/11.

Then some idiot goes on the air, must be one of Sid's producers and says:

Idiotic Sid Rosenberg Producer (in some whiny nerd voice), "You know anotha thing Sidney dat people don't realize, the Giants Broncos Monday night game went late dat nite, many New Yorkers went to sleep late dat nite, they went into work late the next day, so the Giants game actually saved livezz."

Genius Sid Rosenberg, "Absolutely, good point, it could have been worse".

You always have some idiot proclaiming that a tragedy could have been worse. This is the first time I've heard how the Giants game saved lives, where did idiot producer hear this, from Francesa?

Ira, nobody closely connected to 9/11 gives a flip about a Jets Giants Sunday night game, I hope the NFL does strike and losers like Ira have to figure out what to do on their Sundays.

I heard that call. Ira is probably the worst WFAN caller because he only cares about one team in all of sports and is treated like a savant by the hosts. He is nothing but a shill for the Jets, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was compensated by the team in some way (free tickets, etc.) for calling in to WFAN and ESPN1050.

The Giants night game before 9/11 would be a good story if there was any evidence that it was true that some people went to work late because of it. I doubt it.

Wow by that logic I guess the Yankees got people killed by postponing their game due to rain.

As bad as Ira can be, he's no Ralph. Ralph and Mike (in Montclair) are just the most irritating callers I have heard.

When there is a tragedy the media loves human interest stories and people love telling them! Like one paper told the story of a guy who claimed to have a hot streak at the Foxwoods casino and missed his bus. Of course the bus he missed was the one that crashed in the Bronx.

I clearly remember an interview with some tool looking up at the burning towers and with a smirk on his face said “I was late to work today because I was watching the game last night, The Giants saved my life!”
