Both of them on Friday: "NO WAY THE NINERS CAN BEAT THE BRONCOS."

Phil Simms this morning on NFL Now: "If the Mile High atmosphere rattled the Bengals, it will rattle the 49ers."
Mike: "Oh yeah, absolutely. Denver is winning that game."

Niners upset Denver outright in OT, 26-23.

Hey Mike, want to re-think that 10.5 point spread and the Jay Cutler evaluation?

HAH. GO NINERS!!! (I know its just one win but as a suffering Niners fan I've got to take them where I can get them.)

This one should ring a bell for most board members since Mike said this about 30 times this season. As November wore on, Minnesota Fats said ad nauseum "Any team coached by Bill that goes into December on a roll ALWAYS finishes strong."

Well, the Cowboys were on a major roll heading into December, winners of three straight and coming off a 38-10 thrashing of the Bucs. Enter December and the results were:
1. A squeaker win over an ice cold Giants team.
2. An *** kicking at home at the hands of the Saints.
3. A win over a Falcon team in disarray.
4. Another home loss, this one a thorough beating by the Eagles in a game that had the division title at stake.
5. Another home loss to the Lions, one of the worst teams in the league.

Guess we won't hear Mike spewing this line should Parcells return to coach another season.

Love to hear Fatso's take on this stat.

In the 4 years that his butt buddy Tuna has coached the Cowboy's they have finished ever season 2-3 the last 5 games.

Could anyone imagine how bad he would rip any coach {except the Tuna} with that stat?

Back in the early 1990s when the two of them were badmouthing baseball's future every chance they got, Chris would talk about how WFAN owner Jeff Smuylan made a horrible decision paying $76 million for the Mariners (and went around bad mouthing Seattle as a baseball town and tried to break his lease to move to..would you believe..Tampa). Callers would point out the previous owner Agrygos had paid $11 million for the team and got almost 7 times that when he sold. Chris would scream "whose going to pay $76 million, tell me, tell me who? No One." In 1992 Nintendo paid $110 million for it. Chris must think he was right..no one paid $76 million.

That sounds similar to the early-late nineties talk about DC's acquisition of an MLB franchise.

All I heard for about a decade was how adamant against a move Peter Angelos was. About him being a powerful labor union attorney, would never approve of a deal because it would cut into the Orioles' profits, blah blah blah.

Lo and behold, the Washington Nationals.

Default Packers over the Broncos

The Packers had beaten Tuna's Patriots the year before and were looking to repeat against the Broncos. Both Mike and Dog were ADAMANT that the Packers would win. O.K...so were most of the "experts" at the time (although Elway was a sentimental favorite). So, the Broncos win and the next day callers (primarily Broncos fans or those who had picked them to win) are given a full day's serving of "well, the best team doesn't always win," etc. This persisted for weeks and even well into the summer anytime it was brought up. The Mike/MadDog take on the whole thing was that the Packers were a vastly superior team who would have beaten the Broncos 9 times out of 10, Favre was the greatest thing since sliced bread, etc. Well, we all know what happened the next season, as the Packers didn't even make the Superbowl and the Broncos, of course, went on to repeat.

Default Mike on Jose Reyes

I don't remember the specifics, but basically it was when Reyes was first coming up and there was all that excitement about him amongst fans and the Mets organization. Mike admittedly hadn't seen much of him to that point, but evidently had taken some time to check him out more closely on a given occasion. He reported to Chris on the next show, "I don't know Dog. He just doesn't seem to have that certain something that I often notice great ballplayers have. You know, Dog, I can't pinpoint it exactly, it's just a certain intangible quality that all the great ones have, and I honestly didn't see that in Reyes when I watched him." I'm paraphrasing, of course, but that was the essence of it. Here's hoping, fellow sports fans, that Mike misses that "certain intangible quality" in all our potential future stars...

Raiders over bucs was the most memorable one. For 2 weeks all we heard from both was this would be a one sided affair.

Of course after the game they weren't wrong since the bucs "stole the raider plays" and thats why the game turned out that way.

More recently, When aikman mentioned if eagles win out they win the division, francesa said (after aikman was off) he never considered that since the eagles have "no shot" of running the table.

Wow, I am surprised no one added Maria Sharapova over Serena Williams in this years Australian Open. Talk about the kiss of death. An unranked Serena Williams over #1 Sharapova.

Dog is the tennis expert and this proves he really has no clue. When Mike pressed him to pick a winner he went with Sharapova, because of her "mental toughness". From everthing I read she fell apart after the first serve and was never able to regain her composure.

Mike guaranteed the Spurs would beat the Suns. Final score Suns 103 Spurs 87. Good job Mike.

Jan 30- Mike predicts that Wisconsin will make it to the Final Four. He was really going out on a limb and saying the #2 team in the country will make it there. That evening, Wisconsin loses. Strange how he can make a Final Four prediction on January 30th since he doesn't watch college basketball until February.
