I'll use the last word to quote you:

My main point was that I think Francesa overrated the defense in the first place. I then expanded on that to show how he kept shifting gears as the season went on, and how he was basically wrong with how he read the team step by step.

That brief assessment describes Francesa to a tee, not only in this instance, but in general. Thank you.

Sounds good. Thanks for the info. I would love to have the full blown Photoshop and learn how to do what you do.

LOL I thought you worked as a graphics artist. I'm sure the full photoshop is better, but it's several hundred dollars. I may have to go out and get Elements.

Abandoned by his father? Mike? Really? I must not listen as much as I should have. Has he discussed this on the air? Or gotten emotional about it? And whats wrong with his brother?

The idea that our heroes had anything less than a sheltered, pampered upbringing totally rearranges everything I ever thought about them. I imagined Mike growing up in a big house with a successful family (with a few mob ties perhaps). And Dog...I figured he grew up on a plush estate with very little contact with the outside world. My ideas seem to be shattered. I apologize for my unfair assumptions. Poor Mikey.

I'm very interested in this topic. Wow.

What's next...Dog grew up in the projects or spent time in a group home?

What you're going to want to do is make sure you can work with "layers" and "masks," which I think Elements has. It's about 90% of what I do with these M+MD photos. Also you'll need to make color adjustments for skin tone and such. Good luck!
If it's not a photoshop product, what program are you using to make your pictures?

Yes, I believe the old man took off on the family when Tank was just a little Jeep. And I can't be positive but I think his brother died very young.

As for Dog, the only group home I believe he has spent time in would have been the Joseph Smith Center for Mormons, although he could have put in some time in the Strom Thurmond School of Race Relations, I can't be sure about that.

Mike Senior left when Mike Jr. was 8 and younger brother Marty committed suicide in 1990.

Mike's favorite John Lennon song is "Mother."

Farther, you left me but I never left you,
I needed you but you didn't need me,

Daddy come home.
Mama don't go,
Daddy come home.
Mama don't go

Strom Thurmond....LOL!!!! Good job outta you!

Mike has another brother who likes the Mets right? I had the good fortune of getting some field level box seats in the past at Shea. Not far from the WFAN box seats (has the little plaque on the railing that says WFAN).

There was a guy in a Mets running suit sitting there with his buddies. He was loud and demonstrative throughout the game. He was also pretty heavy set and his hair looked familiar too. I thought...WFAN seats...big knowitall...feathered hair...gotta be a Francessa. One of the beer vendors said it indeed was the brother of our hero. Don't know if it's 100% true...but it was funny.

Whoa...all jokes aside for a sec. That is really sad. How awful that must be. I know a lot of guys grow up without their fathers...it's very common unfortunately. But just because it happens to a lot of people doesn't make it hurt any less when your a little boy.

I wonder who taught him about sports and took him to games or played catch with him.

Also Kinda explains his man-crush on Mantle too. Probably meant a lot to him...probably wished the Mick was his dad when he was little.

The suicide thing is rough too. Too bad for Mike, cuz you can't just wipe that stuff off.

No you can't, PLUS his mother died at his house while visiting a couple of years ago. She fell and hit her head as I recall. He described it on air, it was a tough listen, I think he used the phrase 'freak accident.'

Francesa in some ways reminds me of Howard Cossell.

Cossell thought he could be doing much more with his talent other than reporting on sports.

Cossell was very frustrated when he was not allowed to be the main guy reporting from Munich about the killings of the athletes from Israel.

I believe roone Arledge told Cosell that it was giong to be Jim McKay, not Cossell, who would be ABC's main spokesperson on the tragedy.

At least Cossell had a law degree from NYU. What expertise does Francesa have ??

I get the impression Francesa thinks he could be the next Edward R. Morrow, Tim Russert, or Oprah (or maybe all 3), if given the opportunity and that his full potential has been wasted.
