There will probably not be much activity here this week but this is a weekly thread for anyone interested in posting.

Default Mets Minor League Players

Richard Neer just said the Mets have no good minor league prospects citing Lastings Millege and Fernando Martinez.

Here are some players in the minors that I read about in the Mets yearbook. They have above average stats:

Wilmer Flores - shortstop batted .307 in A ball, 8 HRs and 42 RBIs in only 68 games.

Dillon Gee - right handed pitcher with 13-7 record and 2.79 ERA combined in A and AA ball.

Brad Holt - right handed pitcher had 5-3 record, 1.87 ERA and 96 strikeouts om 72 innings in A ball.

Jefry Marte - infielder batted .325 in 44 games in Rookie ball

Jenrry Mejia - had 7-5 record in A ball and Rookie league with 2.73 ERA and 114 K's in 114 innings

Dylan Owen - 22-8 record in A and AA ball, 2.96 ERA and 200 K's in 222 innings

Brant Rustich - 6-4 record, 2.97 ERA in A and Rookie ball, 69 K's in 72 innings

Scott Shaw - 6-3 record in A ball, 2.80 ERA , 79 K's in 74 innings

In summary, not much power or hitters in the minors but looks like some really good pitching prospects. Maybe Wilmer Flores could replace Jose Reyes at short. Hardly a terrible minor league system.

I think you just need to be patient with young pitchers, and the Mets have not done this in recent memory. I think the fact that the Isringhausen-Pulsipher-Wilson troika never quite panned out has hung over the Mets for years. I'd love to see them hold onto and not rush the pitching prospects and give them every opportunity to make it to the Bigs with the Mets.

On another note: shouldn't the weekly thread be 7/5 - 7/11 and do another one next Sunday ?

I agree that young pitchers should not be rushed and most do not even make it to the majors. Just that the farm system is not as bad as some people say. I always like looking for minor leaguers with great stats.

If we get some posts, I'll make another thread next Sunday.

Yes, but I think with pitchers you never know about their minor league stats. At the AAA level you see guys who look like world beaters who have shaky numbers, and you also have guys with great numbers who do not have major-league arms...

A little drama in Sylvania: Michelle Wie (needing a win to get into the Open field next week) has the clubhouse lead...

Default This week's schedule

Today Adam and Heyman are on this afternoon. The rest of the week Joe and Bro are filling in for Mike.

Unlistenable.

Well, for the record, and in Mike's absence Dog's Wimbledon wrap-up and Roger Federer retrospective didn't exactly set the world on fire...

Default Adam & Heyman

I know Heyman takes a lot of abuse in that he doesn't seem to bring any news to his reports with Mike. But Adam & Heyman are much better than Joe & Bro who are caricatures of themselves.

The Summer is slow. That being said, what is the purpose of a post like this?

These are Mike's fans. Which means this is where you go to discuss the Yankees' rotation, or which bat Omar Minaya needs to land as a stopgap. Wimbledon, NBA draft, NHL draft, NBA free agency, NHL free agency, Tiger's tourney and the upcoming U.S. Women's don't exist in this realm...

Didn't Cincinnati win the championship the year after they traded Franco?
