Mike is no doubt getting tickets for free from Dolan. Probably wouldn't be going if he had to pay for them and sit in the cheap seats with the common folk.

Mike just said if the Knicks win tonight it will be the biggest basketball upset in 20 years. Look for a Knicks win then.

Any honest Knicks fan and actually the MSG postgame crew admitted as such, that the Knicks played with very little intensity. I'd love to know where they were the night before, were they partying in a Miami club, were some of them stoned, even Tyson Chandler looked lost. Now that is about 2 and a half playoff games in which the Knicks acted as if it were a middle of the season game. A disgrace of a performance, jogging back on defense, Melo in the middle of the court watching J.R. Smith fumble the basketball, not even a thought of diving on it, a million wide open Miami threes. OK Melo scored 35, you can't rip him too much, the quietest 35 I've ever seen but hey, he shot 50 percent but something just doesn't ring true with this guy as far as a competitive spirit goes. The same with last year and how the played when Boston eliminated the Knicks in game 4. You don't see him acting as a leader, trying to get his teammates to fight. And then Shaq pointed out on TNT something you see after every playoff loss, Carmelo laughing it up during post game interviews, Shaq said it was too much laughing for him and I agree. You know sometimes it could be refreshing that a guy doesn't take himself so seriously but you have to wonder if Melo actually gives a crap about winning. Kobe after a playoff elimination looks devastated, Jordan in the one time he lost against Orlando, I don't recall him laughing. Landry Fields sucks, plain and simple, the guy is a horrible player, MSG postgame crew is trying to say he had a great night because he was 5 of 7 shooting, it is not about a box score, look at the damn game, this guy fumbles the basketball, makes idiotic passes and decisions, he can't make one outside shot, the guy is a disaster. Of course Bill Daughtry on 1050 doesn't have a clue, trying to say the Knicks should go after Steve Nash and dump Jeremy Lin, he's worried about investing a ton of money in Lin's knee but he doesn't understand that Lin's salary situation means he is not going to get a huge contract and no way Nash is coming to the Knicks for limited money, Miami maybe, the Knicks no way. And of course Daughtry is pumping up Mike Woodson as doing such a great job. Really, the Knicks did not show up today and this guy should get rewarded with a contract. What adjustments did this guy make tonight? Why did he play J.R. Smith so many minutes, Smith is a disaster, maybe the sports writer shills ought to ask for a refund on all those articles praising Grunwald for bringing him in here. In this instance maybe Woodson didn't have a choice considering all of the injuries, and yes the Knicks had a ton of injuries but if you go down fighting you can live with that, the Knicks played as if they wanted to lose, how do you not hustle in a playoff elimination game. I'd say the future does not look bright for the Knicks, they have a few pieces but a ton of question marks and their main two stars are suspect competitors at best. Maybe if Anthony decides to take that step from becoming a great scorer to a champion who will sacrifice and do whatever it takes to win, maybe they have a chance of a future, but that's not happening under Mike Woodson, that only happens when a Riley or a Jackson show up with a hand full of rings and the superstar like Ewing, totally buys into the program. As crazy as Latrell Sprewell was, look at how he went out in the Finals game 5 against the Spurs, that guy played with passion and heart, but Dolan hated him, so he only lasted a few years, Dolan is a world class stooge and the Knicks are a franchise barely treading water.

One more thing, I caught Francesa defending Carmelo saying that FG percentage does not matter so much in the playoffs because of the defensive intensity and he used Michael Jordan as an example.
Yes there were nights where Jordan would take a ton of shots and maybe a 40 percent night but those were the exception. Mike ought to check Jordan's playoff field goal percentages in each of his 6 championship years. In the first three it is just about 50 percent for each playoff season. In the second tier it is about 46 percent. While Melo's career playoff FG percentage is around 41 percent.

Mike barely mentioned the Knicks and is doing a lot on the Rangers. You would think Mike would lead with the Knicks story. Again, this is probably him not wanting to make James Dolan look bad so he talks Rangers. That would be OK if he followed hockey but he doesn't.

Mike's revolutionary internet application has really taken the sports radio industry by storm. Did Mike stop reading the fan's 10 second hideous voicemails?
WFAN, how are you the only talk radio station to not offer up podcasts of the entire shows of your major hosts? Cutting edge indeed.

From the small portions I heard yesterday, Mike was actually pretty good on Wednesday. I happen to agree with him with respect to his feelings regarding "Twitter" and those who utilize it, but not for all the same reasons. Like Mike, I don't have a Twitter account and never will. I couldn't care less about the trivial nonsense someone else thinks throughout the day, nor am I vain enough to think anyone would care what I'm thinking. But for Mike, that's not where it ends. For him, his biggest issue seems to be with the players, managers and other celebrity-types mass informing the public without the need for "sports reporters" (his profession, of course). In essence, for the first time (probably in his life), he's witnessing technology that equals his profession and skill and fears it will replace him. Not unlike the many millions of us who's jobs were once manual and are now automated. We used to call that "progress". Mike would also -- except now we're talking about HIS trade! But if you ask him how he feels that his subway station agents were replaced by Metrocard vending machines that saved him 2 cents per year, he's all for it -- it's technology; it's progress -- that's the future, he'd say (and has said). So why the hypocrisy? I'm certain we all know the answer to that.
Personally, I'm 100% for an athlete "Tweeting" whatever he wants, so long as it's not on paid time (dugout, sidelines, etc). Does it cut out the likes of Mike and middlemen? Sure it does. Do I personally have a problem with that? Not at all. Especially when these twits flood all their "stories" with fluff and ads. Mike is among the biggest culprits here -- on YES, there are ads within ads! At times, they reduce the live shot and surround him with ads for this and that. If I can obtain the same (or better) information without Madison Avenue being shoved down my throat all day long, it's a win for me. Anyway, now that the shoe is on the proverbial other foot, I'm enjoying watching Mike worry along with the rest of us who work for a living, worried our jobs will be replaced someday by some automated process. Welcome to the future, Mike. Welcome to the real world. |

This is a YES capture but a day after Mike's initial Twitter thoughts. In other words, he started the "discussion" (incessant rambling?) the day before and lead the show with this the following day, apparently due to the number of calls received regarding the subject:
http://web.yesnetwork.com/media/vide...nt_id=21463117 That's all I could find, but you get the general idea. |

Mike previewed the Preakness Stakes on Friday, basically saying Bodemeister would be tough to catch. I'll Have Another won.
