Default June 2012 Monthly Thread

Already June, the last full month before Mike's summer vacation schedule. Anyone still care about the NBA and NHL playoffs?

A couple of audios from today. Mike says the 1986 Mets were not an all-time great team:

Here is a little sarcasm from Mike about the Yankees asking what Mike wants to talk to Cashman about:

Ther're about the only thing left to care about until football starts since Baseball is mostly garbage.

Stunning. It seemed like it was fate that the Mets would never have a no-hitter. Good that it was Santana and not a fluke one by a mediocre pitcher.

1st just rread an older post that said francessa picked the devils..congrats l.a. kings.....2nd i turned on yankee game at 2-2 when cabrera homered and sterling said he is having a game for the ages. i never knew that a 2 homer game was a game for the ages../i hope he made about 10 defensive plays.i cant tell you how many times he said"oh what a game,oh what a game"in the top of ninth..thank god i grew up mets fan and had bob murphy, even when ralph kiner made mistakes you still know what he is talking about.

I guess Mike's prediction of Heat in 5 is done. I always like Mike's flawed logic, he does it with the NBA all the time. Player X has the game of his life but the team still loses, since it is likely Player X will never have such a game in the series his team will not win. He used this logic with Rondo's game 2. The Heat are a strange team, at times they look unbeatable and at other times they look like a .500 team.

Also Mike seems to have a difficult time figuring out why Lebron is held to a higher standard. Let's see, he announced his decision to leave his hometown by having ESPN conduct an inane tv show. The Big 3 arrive in Miami, they have some sort of a rock concert introduction in which they players say they will not only win one title, they will win multiple titles. After losing last year Lebron said all of the people rooting against him have to go back to their sad little lives. He flops and bitches about fouls unlike any superstar I've ever seen.

Yet 2 weeks ago Mike proclaimed Lebron had the best playoff game performance in history, against Indiana, a little context Mike. Lebron James has wilted under the pressure since arriving in Miami. Best player in the league, that is some overrated nonsense. Although it is still going to be tough for the Celtics to win, considering the NBA is dying for the Heat to be in the Finals, look for some interesting foul calls in game 5.

If Mike thinks the 1986 Mets were not an all time great team he must have been not watching baseball that year.

I turned on the radio to hear Mike talk about the no-hitter and there is a Mets game on.

I expect some Yankee fan to call and chime in about the missed call on Beltran's line drive that should have been a hit. My guess is either Mike from Montclair or Joe D.

I wasn't watching the game, but if it was such a blatant error by the umpire why didn't the Cardinals protest more? From what I gather there wasn't much of an argument over it. I wouldn't be surprised if Mike makes an issue of it. He has been nice to the Mets when they are down, but was killing them when they were good from 2006-08.

Mike gets the facts wrong on Santana's no-hitter. He thinks Beltran's line drive was in the 3rd inning, and when he is corrected he gets really nervous backtracking.

I agree with Mike about whether or not the Heat should start Bosh in Game 5, Mike thinks it is the wrong thing to do and I agree. I just don't see Bosh lighting it up from the outside after being out so long and I doubt he is 100 percent.

Mike's Miami analyst Ira stated that if Wade had 7 or 8 points in the first quarter the game was over. I love jacko statements like that, Wade had 7. Great game 5, as usual Van Gundy provides excellent analysis, Garnett gives his all, the Celtics battle, take charges, never give up, Carmelo Anthony should watch and take note of what it takes to reach this level.

I love Garnett in the huddle before the last play telling his teammates to crash the phuckking boards. I love the anonymous kid yelling "Good Effort" about twenty times to the Heat players as they walked off the court. I love Doc Rivers designing plays in timeouts, Woodson take note, a head coach is actually supposed to draw up plays but seriously Rivers is coaching the hell out of this series. Finally a team starts using the zone against Miami, it had mixed results in this game, in fact during it the Heat took a 7 point lead in the 3rd quarter, but I think they should use it a few times in Game 6 just to shake things up.

Boston still will have to put forth a huge effort to win, nothing is a given. But I assumed Lebron would eventually win one championship, players get older, Mike talks as if it is a given, I'm not so sure.

As far as Bosh goes, you know Mike is pulling out that overall minus 13 point total when Bosh was on the floor but I'm still not sure who was correct, in fact after Bosh had scored 9 points in 10 minutes, maybe he should have played more time in the second half.
