Maybe I am missing something but the Louis Freeh report on Penn State sounds like old news. I think we knew that Penn State didn't do enough to stop Sandusky. The media is acting now like these are great revelations, and all the blame is being put on the people who already left Penn State and a dead Joe Paterno who can't defend himself. I don't think the report adds anything.

Mike is back for a week starting Monday. For all the criticism of Mike, he really is the only host worth listening to on WFAN.

ESPN is much better lately. Than again, I like Basketball & WFAN is pretty much Baseball - and Mets Baseball at that. Very annoying.

Does ESPN have as many commercials as WFAN? It seems like whenever I turn on WFAN it is about 20 seconds of sportstalk and then a 5-10 minute block of commercials and updates.

I'm willing to bet the commercial time is the same, but today from 10 am until 3 pm at least, I will get all Bacsketball talk with Ian O Connor & Steven A.
I don't mind Steven A, so I will have all I need if I feel like listening while at FAN it will be all Baseball & 90% Mets Baseball.

WFAN will probably be a lot of basketball next week with Lin possibly leaving and Jason Kidd getting a DWI. Mike usually gets outraged with DWIs especially on the Jets. Let's see how he handles the Kidd situation.

ESPN radio doesn't have as many commercials as WFAN but I find many of the hosts to be Knick shills. WFAN radio has become an informercial, the station is a joke, I turned it on at random times today, most times it was a commercial, at times you would hear a call, then immediately cut to commercial. A joke.

I did hear Howie from Brooklyn break down the Jeremy Lin disaster, he was spot on, saying that Carmelo has tons of power in the Knick organization and he wants Lin to leave which is obviously true based on his behavior and comments on the ridiculous contract.

Which brings me to the fraud/liar/shill named Stephen A. Smith. He goes on ESPN news and defends Carmelo Anthony, totally sells out, repeating the lie that Anthony told D'Antoni to put Lin in the lineup, never confirmed by anybody other than Anthony, and D'Antoni said this wasn't true, yet the fraud Stephen A. Smith knowingly repeats this lie. Then he goes on to say Jeremy Lin did a disservice to himself, the Knicks, and the fans by not playing in the Miami series because he was only 85 percent. Is Stephen A. Smith kidding me, Smith says that most NBA players would play at 50 percent, really, who comes back from knee surgery early, most commentators were saying it would be a huge mistake for the Knicks to risk Lin's career on a playoff series they could not win.

Smith is a joke and a Knicks/Carmelo Anthony tool.

Unless the Knicks know they are getting Chris Paul, I can't understand why they won't sign Lin, first off they would have an asset to trade, secondly an expiring contract in year three which is very valuable in a sign and trade deal. If Lin turns out to be an all-star this will go down as one of the biggest blunders. I find little reason to watch the Knicks if they don't bring back Lin.

Then we get to the drunk Jason Kidd, I knew it was trouble when they said he bought a home is Southampton, is this guy insane, he can't afford a driver? Just another joke added to this pathetic Knick organization. Now Carmelo Idiot Anthony is running things, first Marbury, now Anthony, not good.

A couple of audios from Mike on the Jason Kidd DWI.

The first one is Mike's monologue on the Jason Kidd DWI. Mike doesn't blame the Knicks in any way, unlike how he hammered the Jets on Braylon Edwards' DWI a couple of years ago:

This one is Nick in Babylon taking on Mike over his own charity event with a cocktail bar. Mike defends drinking at charity events, but doesn't mention that Jason Kidd got drunk at a charity event.

tnt----just because the mets had a good first half don't be fooled into thinking they are a contender. Cream rises to the top after 162 games, honestly, put your pom poms aside, do you really think the mets roster is a playoff roster? They should trade any veterans they can and keep building for a future run. Just look at there bullpen, they will finish with about 77 wins.

why cant they make moves to improve bullpen?or bench? they have whole team to trade except wright, niese and tejada.....but on a side note if they are going to keep 2 wild cards(which i dont like at all),they should move the trading deadline from july 31st to middle of augustbeing just about every team now is in it until sept 1st.

HOWL, this is what I don't understand, when did Mike become a Knicks shill, was it when James Dolan agreed to do in studio interviews with Mike? Certainly Mike didn't have a problem taking on Scott Layden, was Dolan upset with him at that time and then they became friends at some point because today's show takes the cake.

He spends 1 hour and thirty minutes on the Mets. Then he spends 15 minutes on Kidd and as you said mentions Dolan's name once. Then at 2:45 he finally brings up the biggest story in NY this weekend, Jeremy Lin. He correctly takes a shot at Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith, ok, but then he totally takes the blame off the Knicks, first saying they obviously were going to sign the first contract and that would have been a smart move, Francesa would have done the same thing, but Francesa said that Lin obviously does not want to be here because he goes back to Houston and tells them that the Knicks are going to match it, so Houston throws in the 3rd year poison pill.

Why did Lin have to go back to tell Houston? The entire media was reporting the Knicks were going to match that offer. Perhaps Houston told Lin if you sign the poison pill deal, we're not giving you any offer, then there is no way he can get a big contract from the Knicks because they only have the authority to match a big offer, not create one based on the CBA rules.

But back to Francesa and the obvious shill he has become for Dolan. Francesa says it is the right call to sign Lin with the original deal but not the poison pill deal. Francesa says the poison pill contract eliminates any flexibility for the Knicks. That is a LIE, the second contract only adds 6 million to the third year, so if you say a 9 million third year is fine, how does an extra 6 million kill your flexibility? It does not because the Knicks are over the cap no matter what, if they are going to sign Chris Paul it has to be through a sign and trade deal.

And of course Francesa says the first deal was a good one to match but proceeds to declare that there is no way Lin can thrive under Woodson, he admits he doesn't know how good he can become but suddenly he knows how he will play in the current system.

This entire thing is a joke, Dolan is a baby, I can't believe he's going to throw this player away for nothing all because he wanted extra money. Anybody with half a brain would go for the money. I'd love to know how much money Linsanity brought to MSG, somewhere, some bean counter knows and it would not surprise me if the ratings, merchandise, overall buzz brought in more than 25 million last year.

HOWL did Francesa take Lin calls because I missed the show at 3pm, I turned it on at 3:30 and Francesa was discussing Penn State. Do you have the audio from 3 to 3:30 if Francesa took calls on Lin?

I don't know why Mike shills for James Dolan. Mike does get good seats at the Garden when he goes to a big game. Maybe Dolan is giving Mike free Cablevision too, who knows. It might just be that he thinks he is friends with Dolan. Mike basically ignored the Knicks during the last decade rather than criticizing them. I think Mike took Lin calls but I didn't listen to the whole show.
